MOLD TESTING

Why is Mold Testing Important?

Inhalation is the number one pathway for mold spores to make their way inside the body. Our air tests are a great way to determine what kind of molds are present and at what levels those molds are in you indoor air quality environment. Orlando and Central Florida is full of molds that are naturally present; that being said, anytime air quality testing is performed inside there needs to be an outside control to go along with it. These tests should be paired with a mold assessment so that the best testing area inside your home or office can first be determined.

Types Of Mold Testing

There are many different methods practiced to test for mold, but the methods that Quality Mold Solutions implements are swab samples and air samples. Swab sampling is exactly what you might  think. It is a sterile swab used to directly determine if the suspected area found is in fact mold, and what kind. Air sampling is used to determine the effect of the mold on the indoor air quality. Air sampling can also be used to pick up on hidden mold. The process uses a sampling pump that pulls air through a cassette that traps mold spores. An air sample will be taken from the outside as the control, and inside wherever the affected or suspect areas are. All samples will be taken to a lab and results will be given within 24-48 hours.

ERMI Testing

Environmental Relative Moldiness Index also know as ERMI testing is one of our more specialized mold tests. It is a single sample analysis of dust from your home or office. ERMI determines the concentrations of the DNA of different species of molds. It tests for 36 different species of mold.

EMMA Testing

The Environmental Mold and Mycotoxin Assessment also know as EMMA testing is similar to ERMI testing, but tests for 10 different molds and 16 mycotoxins. The primary benefit here, obviously, is that you get info on the mycotoxins and not just the molds.
