Not every dark mold is black mold. Color alone cannot identify a mold; a lab can. Our black mold testing confirms whether Stachybotrys, the mold usually meant by "black mold", is present, with a clear report of what was found.
How We Test for Black Mold
- Swab sampling: a sterile swab of the suspect growth tells the lab directly whether it is mold, and what kind.
- Air sampling: air drawn through a spore-trap cassette, inside and outside as a control, shows how the growth affects the air and can pick up hidden mold.
- Lab analysis: samples go to an accredited lab. Results from the accredited lab are typically back in 24-48 hours, in a written report with photos.
Why test instead of guessing
Dark staining can be mildew, dirt or another common mold. Knowing exactly what is there decides what happens next, and keeps you from paying for work you do not need. If Stachybotrys is confirmed, we can write a remediation protocol for the contractor you choose.
