Home / Indoor Air Quality Testing
Breathing is the main way mold spores get into the body. When someone in the home has allergy symptoms that ease when they leave, or a musty odor will not go away, indoor air quality testing shows what is actually in the air you breathe.
How We Test Indoor Air
A sampling pump pulls air through a cassette that traps mold spores. We take samples inside, where the problem is suspected, and one outside as the control, because Central Florida air naturally carries mold. The lab compares the two, so you see whether the indoor air is out of line with the outdoors and which molds are responsible.
- Humidity: we measure it with a hygrometer. The EPA puts ideal indoor humidity at 30%-50%; 60% or more is elevated and feeds mold growth.
- VOCs: if odors point to chemicals rather than mold, we can add VOC testing.
- Where to sample: a mold assessment first finds the best places to test.
Results from the accredited lab are typically back in 24-48 hours, in a written report with photos.
