ERMI, the Environmental Relative Moldiness Index, is one of our more specialized mold tests. Instead of a snapshot of the air on one day, it reads the mold DNA in dust that has settled in your home over time.
How ERMI Testing Works
We collect a single dust sample from the home or office. The lab analyzes it for the DNA of 36 different mold species and reports the concentration of each, which gives a picture of the molds that have been present, not only the ones in the air today.
When ERMI makes sense
- Long-term questions: when you want to know what has been in the home, not just this week.
- Health concerns: when a doctor or the family wants species-level detail.
- Alongside air sampling: ERMI complements air and swab testing; it does not replace a visual assessment.
